Countdown to Columbus: Relive 2001

The first qualifier held at Crew Stadium between the US and Mexico was outstanding. A chilly February night saw injury replacements Josh Wolff and Clint Mathis spark an amazing US 2-0 victory without Claudio Reyna and Brian McBride both of whom were injured . The atmosphere was electric and cemented Crew Stadium as the home for important US National Team games versus Mexico. Earnie Stewart as he so often did in the big games also scored a goal for the United States.
